Mau-Mau Kids

The Mau-Mau you can hand your child, with nothing extra to buy.

Coming soon

Bella the bunny, Leo the lion, Drake the dragon, a fox and a kitten sit around a green card table, with the draw pile and discard pile in the middle. In your hand, the eight of hearts glows gold: you can play it.

The family card game, sized for your child

Mau-Mau is Germany's family favorite, a cousin of Crazy Eights.

Classic German Mau-Mau

The default is the 32-card Skat deck. House Rules add a 52-card deck and new ways to play and draw.

Built for ages 5–12

The cards are big and easy to read. Three difficulty levels let a five-year-old win and still give a twelve-year-old a fight.

Pay once, play it all

You pay €3.99 once, and the whole game is yours from the start. There's no subscription, and your child never sees an ad.

Works with screen readers

Your child can play the whole game with VoiceOver or TalkBack. Color modes help children with red-green or blue-yellow color blindness, and every screen offers a high-contrast mode.

Who's at the table

Your child plays against one to three computer opponents, such as Bella the bunny, Leo the lion, and Drake the dragon. Each difficulty level has four animals of its own. A statistics screen shows past games. New card backs unlock after three wins, fifteen wins, and a three-win streak. The game is in English and German.

Questions parents ask

Does my child ever play against strangers?

Every opponent is one of the game's animal characters, and there's no chat.

Does it need an account or the internet?

No account needed. The mobile app runs fully offline, and nothing your child does leaves the device.

What if we play by rules that aren't in the game?

We'd love to hear about them.

  • You’re down to one card, the seven of diamonds, and the big “Mau!” button is ready to press. Bella the bunny waits across the green table, with the eight of hearts on the discard pile.
  • The House Rules screen offers a “32 Cards” or “52 Cards” deck, with 32 selected. Two more settings control whether you must play when you can and whether you draw one card or keep drawing.
  • The game setup screen offers one to three opponents and three difficulty levels: Easy, Medium and Hard. Three opponents on Easy (ages 5–7) are selected.
  • After a win, a golden trophy appears with the words “You won!” Buttons let you play again right away or go back to the main menu.
  • With “Red-Green” mode on, hearts and diamonds turn blue while clubs and spades stay black. The nine of diamonds tops the discard pile; you hold the queen and ace of diamonds.
