Privacy policy for Mau-Mau Kids

Last updated:

This privacy policy applies to the Mau-Mau Kids app for iOS and Android. It is available in German and English. Both versions have the same content; in case of any discrepancy, the German version is binding.

In short

Controller

The controller responsible for data processing under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Frabert UG (haftungsbeschränkt)
Zimmerstraße 3
76137 Karlsruhe
Germany

Represented by the managing directors: Robert Borchers, Frank Schmid

Phone: +49 721 18126448
E-mail: legal@frabert.de

Further details are in our legal notice (Impressum). We have not appointed a data protection officer, as we are not legally required to.

Who the app is for

Mau-Mau Kids is made for children aged 5 to 12. This policy is therefore addressed mainly to parents and guardians. In addition to the GDPR, we observe the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Federal Trade Commission's rule under it (16 CFR Part 312).

What data the app processes

The app collects no personal data. In particular, it does not collect:

The app does not ask for permission to use the camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos. No internet connection is needed to play, and the app sends no data while it is being played.

Data stored only on the device

So that game progress and settings are kept, the app stores a small amount of information in its own storage area on the device:

This information never leaves the device, is not linked to any person and cannot be accessed by us. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data in the operating system's settings. Storing it is strictly necessary for the app features you use (Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German TDDDG), so no consent is required.

No ads, no analytics, no sharing

App Store and Google Play

The app is bought, downloaded and paid for through the Apple App Store or Google Play. These providers process data under their own responsibility and their own privacy policies. We do not receive buyers' names or contact details from the stores, only aggregated sales and download reports.

Depending on the settings on your device, Apple or Google may share aggregated crash and performance reports about the app with developers that cannot be traced back to you. These reports are created by the operating system or the store, not by the app. You can turn this sharing off in your device's privacy settings. We use such reports only to fix bugs in the app.

Opening this privacy policy from the app

The "Privacy policy" link in the app's settings opens this page in the device's web browser. This takes you out of the app. When the website frabert.de is accessed, the web server processes technically necessary connection data such as the IP address, date and time, the page requested, and the browser and operating system. This is done to deliver the page and to keep the website running securely. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working and secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). This data is not combined with other data and is not used to identify anyone.

If you contact us

If you contact us by e-mail or phone, we process your contact details and the content of your message to deal with your request. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you exercise a data protection right, we process the data to meet our legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR). We delete this data once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply. Please do not send us any personal data about your child that is not needed for your request.

COPPA information for parents

COPPA requires verifiable parental consent before personal information is collected from children under 13. Because Mau-Mau Kids collects no personal information from any user, there is nothing that consent would be needed for. We therefore do not operate a parental-consent process and do not take part in a COPPA safe harbor program.

Data retention: We collect no personal information from children through the app. There is therefore nothing for us to retain and no retention period. The game data stored on the device (see above) stays there until the app is uninstalled or its data is cleared. We can neither access nor delete it.

Parents' rights: Parents may ask at any time what information we hold about their child (the answer is: none), object to collection and request deletion. The only data that exists is on the device and can be removed by uninstalling the app or clearing its data. For questions, contact us at legal@frabert.de. We usually reply within 30 days.

Your rights under the GDPR

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). We process no personal data through the app, so these rights mainly concern data from contacting us or from visiting our website. To exercise your rights, write to legal@frabert.de.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the member state where you live. The authority responsible for us is:

Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg
Postfach 10 29 32, 70025 Stuttgart, Germany
E-mail: poststelle@lfdi.bwl.de

Changes to this privacy policy

We update this policy when the app or the law changes. The version published here applies; the date of the last change is shown at the top of this page. If a future version of the app were to process personal data, we would say so here beforehand and, where required, obtain parental consent first.
